I’m honored to serve as your Chair of the Democratic Party of New Mexico.
Democrats elected me for the first time in 2021, and we’ve been building our Party and electing Democrats up and down the ballot ever since.
In my first months as Chair, Democrats filled Deb Haaland’s Congressional seat in a special election, sending Melanie Stansbury to Congress with record-breaking results at the polls. We were just getting started.
During the 2022 election, we knocked on over 130,000 doors, made over 487,000 phone calls, and sent more than half a million text messages to voters in every corner of NM.
Hard work pays off. We won every statewide office, maintained our significant majorities in the state legislature, and delivered victories in all three Congressional districts, securing the entire federal delegation for Democrats.
Under my leadership, we made historic changes to our Party to bolster diversity, equity, and inclusion. We extended State Central Committee membership to New Mexico’s sovereign nations. And we’re the first state party in the nation to do it.
We’re also fostering future political talent and empowering the next generation of Democrats by creating the first-ever paid and for-credit internship program. DPNM interns are now working for Senator Heinrich, Representative Stansbury, and the Democratic National Committee.
As a member of the DNC’s Executive Board, I represent our state in national politics. I’m making sure that Democratic leaders across the country know exactly what NM is capable of, and I will keep earning national support for our Party and candidates.
I’ve delivered for NM Democrats, and I’m proud to have earned the endorsement of our elected officials.
I’m asking for your vote so we can continue electing Democrats and building our Party. Thank you and I look forward to serving with you for another two years. Onward!
Thank you,
Jessica
Prior to her service as Democratic Party of New Mexico’s Chair, Jessica was a candidate for the New Mexico House of Representatives in District 22. In 2018 and 2020, she led unprecedented campaigns in one of New Mexico’s most historically conservative, “red” House districts, driving voter turnout to record levels in a crucial area of the state. Jessica also served on Governor Lujan Grisham’s interim Education Committee and on the Bernalillo County 2020 Census Committee.
Now, as Chair of DPNM, Jessica brings her experience from the campaign trail to energize our state party. With an eye to engaging rural communities, registering voters and driving voter turnout among young and first-time voters in historically underrepresented communities, and strengthening Party infrastructure, Jessica is dedicated to building an even more inclusive, effective and dynamic DPNM so that we can continue to win elections and fight for our core Democratic values and policies.
Outside of politics, Jessica and her husband Aaron own and operate Theta Plate Inc., an Albuquerque-based electroplating company that has been in the family since 1976. Jessica became an English and Social Studies teacher with Albuquerque Public Schools after moving to New Mexico in 1999. She holds a BA in English from Penn State University and an MA from the University of New Mexico in Language, Literacy and Sociocultural Studies. Jessica feels lucky to live in Sandia Mountains with her husband and children, two dogs, and a dozen chickens. When she has free time, she loves to read, travel, cook, practice yoga and hike in the mountains with her family.
